Abstract: We consider the inverse problem on recovering the coefficient $q$ of the wave equation $\partial^2_t u-\partial^2_x u-qu^{\gamma+1}=0$ with $\gamma\ge0$ on $\mathbb{R}^{+}\times (0,T]$. We study properties of solutions to the direct problem and prove that there exists a unique solution. For the inverse problem, we prove that a solution locally exists and establish a global estimate for its stability.
