Abstract: Results are presented on local-in-time solvability of free boundary problems for a system of ideal compressible magnetohydrodynamics. A free plasma-vacuum interface problem and a free boundary problem with boundary conditions on a contact discontinuity are considered. An approach is given for proving the local existence and uniqueness of smooth solutions of these problems with and without surface tension. © 2021, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
